           The landscape appears grim:
Daily public complaints about “a rising crime wave”.  One newspaper puts out an estimate that says there more than 1,000 murderers, roaming this country undeterred, because of a low Police detection rate.
Added to this -- and more frighteningly -- there is the more recent trend of State witnesses being murdered.

For Crime Stoppers Trinidad and Tobago the task has never before been so challenging; in the face of the above, it is required to maintain the integrity of the Programme, which it has been running since 1999.

            Crime Stoppers Trinidad and Tobago has completed its Community Signage Competition at the winners are expected to be announced shortly.
For the past six weeks, the judges have been visiting communities stretching from Good Wood Gardens and Belmont near the capital to Maracas St Joseph, Sangre Grande, Biche, Princes Town, San Fernando, and Roxborough, Tobago.
            In all there were 12 finalists, in the Competition in which participants were invited to create signs in their communities that carry crime prevention messages. Read More...


Press Statement
The Crime Stoppers concept has been praised by a United Nations Sub-committee, which has also advised UN Member States that they should adopt the Crime Stoppers initiative in their home countries.
           The Seventh Meeting of the UN Heads of National Drug Law Enforcement Agencies (HONLEA) held in Geneva suggested that to more effectively counter organised crime member countries should adopt “a law enforcement multi-agency, intelligence led approach of working with key partners in the private sector”.

General Manager of Crime Stoppers T&T Recieves Coordinator of The Year Award.
The general manager of the Trinidad and Tobago Crime Stoppers was presented with the coordinator of the year award Saturday night at the 26 th annual Crime Stoppers International conference in Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Devrol Dupigny, who was appointed general manager of the Crime Stoppers program in March 2003, was one of four people who were recipients of top awards at the conference’s closing banquet at Calgary’s Telus Centre. Read More...

CRIME STOPPERS RECOGNIZED BY UNITED NATIONS
Crime Stoppers International, Inc., the umbrella organization for all Crime Stoppers programs in the world, has been granted Special Consultative Status by the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.
The Special Consultative Status allows CSI to designate members of Crime Stoppers to serve as “non-governmental organization” or “NGO” representatives to lend their expertise on matters being discussed at committee levels before resolutions are presented to the UN’s General Assembly. Read More...
